Meet CMI Researcher Tim McIntyre

Meet CMI researcher Tim McIntyre of Oak Ridge National Laboratory.CMI Researcher Tim McIntyre leads the design and development of a low-cost, high-throughput magnet recycling system in focus area 3, improving reuse and recycling.

Tim has 25 years experience in sensors and controls research covering areas such as fiber optics, optical spectrometers, ultra-precision actuators and measurement systems, wireless sensor networks and sensor design.  He currently manages a research and development program cutting across all ORNL scientific disciplines engaged in measurement science and systems engineering approaches for energy efficiency in buildings and industry, study of carbon cycles and climatology, non-destructive testing and analysis, nuclear reactor instrumentation and controls, electricity grid resilient controls and global security missions.

Tim has given more than a dozen invited talks, published more than 20 journal articles and conference proceedings, has six patents, three patents pending and one R&D 100 Award.  Tim recently completed the design, construction and commissioning of an air cargo explosives detection system at a major U.S. airport.
